The club provides the opportunity for local boys and girls aged between 5 and 18years old to participate in football every week. The club staff are all volunteers and have attained full CRB clearance, each team has a minimum level 1 FA Coach and along with these dedicated staff and parents who make this all possible, a typical weekend may see almost 1000 people visit the club.
The club have 14 Boys teams and 3 Girls teams operating in competitive weekly leagues, they also offer a ‘Fun Club’ on a Saturday morning for boys and girls of mixed abilities aged between 5-10 as part of the commitment to support kids to ‘Get into Football’ which is a national programme driven by the English FA.
"This is a huge achievement not only for us as a club but for the community we serve, it shows we are doing things right and have the structure, plans and drive in place to continue to provide these facilities in the area for years to come. The partnerships we have forged over the years with the local wards, communities and schools was worth the time and effort everyone at the club put in to reach this stage.
We now need to ensure this is sustainable and the youngsters in this area remain proud to be part of Newcastle East End Juniors"
The Football Association developed a ‘kite mark’ for grassroots clubs to recognise the organisation behind the scenes and commitment to providing a safe environment, qualified coaching and quality opportunities for local young people. The highest level any club can achieve is Community Standard.
Mark Woodhall, Football Development Officer at the Northumberland FA said,
"The Northumberland FA are delighted to present Newcastle East End Juniors with their Community Club status, becoming only the 7th Community Club in Northumberland to receive this award.
They have now added to the opportunities available by providing transport for their coaches to utilise when working in schools, allowing increased access to coaching for pupils in the local area.
They have forged strong links with various groups within the community and we look forward to working with them over the coming seasons."
