Roadworks & Closures: Central Motorway | Coast Road ... posted 12 Sept 2007

Sunday 23 September, the Southbound carriageway of the Central Motorway will be closed until 10am. There will be no access between Cow Hill interchange and the Swan House roundabout.
The Great North Run takes place on Sunday 30 September and a stretch of the Central Motorway between Grandstand Road and the Great North Road will be closed in both directions from 8pm on the Sat evening until at least 6pm on the Sunday.
From Monday September 17, a 600-yard stretch of the Coast Road, the Blue House Bridge, west of the A19 slip road, will be subject to Contraflow two-lane traffic travelling in both directions with 30mph speed restrictions, while the two existing bridge spans are replaced.
During the work there will be two overnight closures of the Coast Road - one on a Friday and possibly a Saturday night in November and another in April 2008. This will enable 60-foot pre-cast concrete beams to be lowered safely into position.
Signed diversions will be in place on both occasions and there will be special provision for emergency vehicles.
